Helping Pharmacies Expand Clinical Services Beyond the MDHIN Network

MDHIN helps pharmacies document, coordinate, and support clinical services for MDHIN members and non-MDHIN patients, including insurance billing or direct billing pathways where available.

Clinical services for pharmacies

MDHIN today announced mDHIN helps pharmacies document, coordinate, and support clinical services for MDHIN members and non-MDHIN patients, including insurance billing or direct billing pathways where available.

Not every patient who walks into a pharmacy is an MDHIN member — but that does not mean the opportunity to provide clinical care ends there.

MDHIN enables participating pharmacies to extend many clinical services to non-MDHIN patients through supported documentation, provider collaboration, and payer-specific billing workflows where available.

Whether services are billed to a medical payer, a commercial health plan, Medicare when applicable, an employer-sponsored program, or directly to the patient, MDHIN provides the technology and clinical infrastructure to help pharmacies expand beyond traditional prescription dispensing.

One Clinical Workflow

Rather than maintaining separate processes for different patient populations, pharmacies can use a consistent workflow to document clinical encounters and determine the appropriate reimbursement pathway.

Depending on the service and payer requirements, reimbursement may include medical insurance billing where eligible, employer-sponsored healthcare programs, value-based care initiatives, cash-pay clinical services, direct patient billing, or MDHIN membership benefits.

Provider Collaboration Available

Many pharmacy-based clinical services require collaboration with a licensed healthcare provider. For pharmacies that do not already have collaborating providers, MDHIN can help connect participating pharmacies with qualified providers who support clinical services through the MDHIN network, subject to state regulations and program requirements.

Growing Beyond Dispensing

Healthcare continues to evolve toward preventive care, value-based services, and expanded access to community-based healthcare providers. MDHIN is committed to helping independent pharmacies become comprehensive clinical care destinations by providing technology, provider collaboration, implementation support, and administrative resources.
